Terms and Conditions and Useful Information

COVID-19 : Please note that it is YOUR responsitbility to ensure you are following the correct government guidance at the time of your visit.

We have 12 beach huts so please read carefully and make sure you read the correct section.  Huts are located at Walton and Frinton and there is a different section for each location:

Huts at Walton-on-the-Naze

The addresses of the huts are

Summer Sands, Hut 184
Daisy, Hut A183
Lizzie, Hut A178
Bertie, Hut A172
Rosie, Hut A173
Molly, Hut A115
Lily, Hut A42
Poppy, Hut A16
Billie, Hut A14
Flip Flop Inn, D10

All are at Southcliff Promenade, Walton on the Naze, Essex CO14 8EJ
A = Front Row
D = 4th Row

The best place to park is in the large public carpark near the pier (Church Road, CO14 8DE).  There is also parking along the residential streets nearby and in the station carpark.

If you are visiting the Daisy, Bertie, Lizzie, Molly, Summer Sands or Rosie huts from September to May you can park at the end of Woodberry Way, CO14 8ER and walk down the footpath then turn LEFT at the beach and approach the hut from that direction which is slightly shorter than approaching from the pier end (Molly is about equidistant)

From the Pier end, with the pier on your left, walk along the prom, round the bend, past ‘May’s Boardwalk Café’ and the huts are just along from there.  Daisy is yellow,  Lizzie is pale pink, Bertie is blue, Rosie is bright pink, Molly is turquoise, Summer Sands is blue and Lily is pale pink and white.  Poppy is candyfloss pink and is before you get to May's Cafe.

Access to the hut is via a key safe on the back or side of the hut.  The code is changed on a regular basis so please contact us a week before your booking to get the code.

There are 2 key safes per hut – PLEASE ONLY TAKE ONE SET OF KEYS!!!  The other is for emergency use only eg. if the keys are lost or you lock yourself out.  If you lose some keys PLEASE let me know so I can replace them.

If you lock yourself out or lose both sets of keys you will need to call out a locksmith to get you back in.  This will be at your expense and costs incurred by any damage to the door or lock and replacement keys will also be your responsibility to pay for.  You could try these locksmiths - John on 07977 720369 or Taylor on 01255 714236

The Beach Huts are available from 10am until 6pm.  If you are booking consecutive days you may stay in the hut until 10pm apart from your last day when you must leave by 6pm

Cancellations - Your booking is non-refundable and non-transferable including in the event of bad weather.  If you want to guarantee the weather then please do not book a hut in advance! Wait until you are convinced that the weather will be as you want it to be and then check what's available and leave the advance bookings for those who are willing to take a chance on the weather to secure the date they want!  As much as I would love everyone to have a glorious, sunny day for their visit, this is not the reality of our British weather but the joy of a beach hut is that it provides enjoyment and shelter whatever the weather!  However, if you can let me know about a possible cancellation or transfer with enough advance notice then I can try to resell the day and if succesful I can refund you.

If, when you arrive, the hut is not clean and tidy, please take photos and text or email Anna on 07966 848604 / [email protected] straight away – do not leave it until the end of the day.

Daisy Beach huts and our partners take great pride in creating beautiful huts for your enjoyment and we make every effort to have them looking perfect for you but please be aware that this relies upon each guest treating it as they would their own place.  We regularly change the cushions and blankets to keep them fresh and clean for you and the huts are checked every day but please, if you break or soil something please do let me know so that I can try to sort it out for the next guests.  We completely understand that accidents happen (especially when kids are around!) so please let us know as it’s unfair for the next day’s guests to find that things aren’t what they had hoped for!

The toilets by the pier are open all year round and there is another toilet block which is open from the Easter hols to the end of October Half Term, about half way along the prom between the pier and the Frinton corner.  You will need a ‘Radar Key’ (available online) to use the disabled toilets by the pier.

There is a drinking water tap just behind the Billie, Lily and Poppy huts and behind hut 167 for Daisy, Bertie, Lizzie and Summer Sands and Rosie.  The tap for Molly is behind Hut 122.  The taps are switched off in very cold weather.

For more specific information about tap and WC closures in winter months you can contact Tendring Council’s Seafronts Team on 01255 686638 / 01255 222022

The Hut is equipped for 8 people with enough chairs, mugs, plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses for everyone. The maximum permitted per hut including adults, children and pets is 10.  If you are a larger group then please book the Rosie and Bertie huts together as they are next door to each other and can therefore accommodate a party of 20 maximum.  Please do not exceed this number. Pets are not allowed inside the Caribu hut

Gas Stove Instructions for all huts except Caribu
There is a gas stove and kettle in the hut and spare canisters in the cupboard underneath.  If you need to change the gas canister please ensure it is inserted properly.  Please watch this short video on how to change the gas canister as if it is not done correctly it can cause a fire.  I would advise that you check before you use it in case the people before you have not!  The thing people do wrong is to forget to turn the canister so that the notch in the rim is facing upwards and locked into the connector (this is shown at 40 seconds on the video clip)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipnMX9J08Go

Please do not use any other cooking pans other than the kettle provided as this is a fire hazard.  No frying please!
The Lizzie and Molly huts have removable perspex panels that can be put into the window frames to provide extra protection when the weather is not so kind.  Please ensure these are locked firmly into place with the sliders so as not to fall out and cause injury or damage.  Do not use the gas stove when the perspex window and / or door are closed as there will not be enough ventilation which could cause a build up of carbon monoxide in the hut.
Barbeques are NOT permitted at Walton
Smoking is not permitted inside any of the huts
Don’t forget to take some milk for a cuppa although there is a Tesco Express supermarket a short walk away on the High Street which is a couple of roads down from the pier entrance. We like the Victory Pub in Walton and Yates is good for Fish and Chips if you’re looking for that sort of thing.
There is also a cafe nearby (May’s Boardwalk Café) that is open seasonally that sells teas, coffees, icecreams, chips, hotdogs etc and the Kiosk by the pier which sells similar.
Dogs are allowed all year round on the beaches in front of all the huts except Shiny Shell where they are not permitted in the summer months but please remember to scoop the poop!  They are welcome in all of the huts except Caribu but please do not leave them unattended in the hut or let them on the furniture.
The sea around this part of the world is very tidal and at high tide the sea comes right up to the sea wall making the beach inaccessible for that part of the day.  There is a part of the beach round the corner towards Frinton called The Leas which usually is not covered at high tide so you can always go and explore that part of the beach at that time or just relax on the prom, in the hut and on the pier.  You can check the tides at

https://www.tideschart.com/United-Kingdom/England/Suffolk/Walton--on--the--Naze-Beach/

Beach towels and tea towels are not provided so please take your own.
The Hut should be left in a clean and tidy condition and swept out prior to departure and cleaning equipment and products are provided for that purpose.
Any problems or questions please call Anna on 07966 848604 or Louis on 07900 054876

The Shiny Shell Hut in Frinton
The Shiny Shell in Frinton is owned by my very good friend Cathy and is a much loved and fabulous bright blue beach hut decorated and furnished to match the seaside vibe!
The Shiny Shell (Hut No. 462) is located on the High Wall in Frinton.
Parking with the easiest and nearest access for the beach hut is via Queens Road to the Esplanade; CO13 9AS and parking here is free. A good point of reference when you are parking is to look for the tallest block of flats (called Kings Court) as it is directly opposite the ramp you need to walk down to the hut.  Once you have parked, cross the Greensward and go down the ramp to the seafront.  At the bottom of the ramp turn right and you will find The Shiny Shell just a few huts along (Hut 462).  There is a tap located at the bottom of the ramp too and the nearest toilets are a few minutes walk to the left from the hut (toward Walton direction) or there are the ‘posh’ toilets (20p a visit) to the right at the junction of Connaught Avenue toward Frinton.
The beach hut is equipped for 8 guests with space for 10 should you wish. There are a few steps up to the hut which gives space for seating and relaxing as well as the promenade itself offering extra space for tables and chairs should you wish. Plus of course, there is the wonderful sandy beach where a tripod in the sea gives you an easy bearing on where you are in relation to the beach hut when swimming!

Access to the hut is via a key safe on the side of the hut.

Our huts are all checked and sanitised between guests. As Covid guidance changes on a regular basis, may we take this opportunity to remind you that it is your responsibility to ensure that you are complying with the current government guidance when you visit.
Check that you know where the fire blanket and extinguisher are before you light the stove and carefully read the instructions for the safe use of the stove!
Gas Stove Instructions for Caribu
First, turn the gas on at the cylinder by turning the black knob clockwise to 12 o’clock.  To light gas hob, push in one of the round knobs on the stove.  Push in the knob, keep pressing whilst turning anti-clockwise (to the left) to the ignition position.  The ignition will make a clicking noise and should light the burner. Repeat until lit (or use a match).
Sometimes it takes a few seconds for the gas to come through the pipe before it lights.
After use, always turn gas off at the cylinder. Turn black knob anti-clockwise to 9 o’clock position to turn gas off after use and on departure.
Please do not use any other cooking pans other than the kettle provided as this is a fire hazard! No frying please!
Smoking is not permitted in the hut.
The hut itself has two rooms including a kitchenette with work surface and two ring gas-stove for making tea or heating up soup. There is a folding table next to a long seating bench and 3 stools allowing 8 people to sit around it. The hut has ample kitchen equipment to cater for up to 8 people including cups, plates, bowls, cutlery and washing up bowl and brushes.
There are 6 deck chairs and 2 plastic chairs for use on the beach, promenade or inside the hut.
For the children and young at heart, there is a large box of beach toys including buckets and spades of varying sizes, beach boules, cricket bat and stumps, tennis rackets and balls, frisbee, football and toy boats.
If you enjoy exploring, at low tide there are often pools on the beach where you can go crabbing and looking for shrimps, shells or starfish.
Other essential facilities are not far away either. ‘Caribu’ is 150m from the nearest toilet block.  Come out of the hut and turn right (towards Frinton) you will find the toilets at the end of the ramp down from where cars park at end of Audley Way/Waltham Way/Central Avenue or there are toilets towards Walton Pier which is left out of the hut.
You can buy ice cream, chips, coffee and other refreshments at May’s Boardwalk Café which is left out of the hut towards Walton pier
There is a fresh water tap about 20m from the hut (towards Walton), allowing you to collect water for making a cup of tea and doing the washing up.
The hut has stunning views because it is elevated above the beach with 6 wooden steps up to the beach hut veranda and 6 concrete steps up from the promenade.
We ask that dogs do not go into the beach hut but there is lots of space for them to enjoy next to the beach hut and on the beach. Please keep your dogs under control and clear up after them using the public bins on the promenade.
Beach towels, tea towels and bin bags are not provided so please remember to bring your own and don't forget your tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk for a cuppa!
When leaving the hut, clear up, empty the bin, turn off the gas at the bottle(follow the instructions provided)lock all the bolts on the windows and doors and put the keys in the key safe and scramble the numbers.

Cancellations - As much as we would love everyone to have a glorious, sunny day for their visit, this is not always the reality of our British weather and the joy of a beach hut is that it provides enjoyment and shelter whatever the weather so we are very sorry but we do not offer refunds or transfers if the weather is not as you had hoped. We are afraid that if you book a hut in advance then you are taking a chance on the weather to guarantee the date you want. If you prefer to guarantee the weather then please do not book a hut in advance. Having said that, if you are able to let us know about a possible cancellation far enough in advance, then we can try to resell the date and if successful may be able to refund you.  Please go to the website for our cancellation policy  https://www.daisybeachhuts.com/terms-and-conditions.html

Hope you have a fab day!
Please call us on 07966 848604 if you have any problems.
